Responsible Designing in Warsaw, Poland

Michelle Berryman will be a speaker and panel moderator on the subject of “Responsible Designing” at the International Conference on Innovation and Creativity of Women for Economic Development – Designing Quality of Life in a Modern Economy in Warsaw, Poland, March 22-23, 2012. The event is organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland (PPO), the Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market (OHIM) and the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The conference will be the fifth event of a series of annual conferences on Women’s Contribution to Innovation and Creativity. The conference will address the following topics:
• Promote innovation, creativity and intellectual property (IP) as a power tool for economic development amongst women;
• Promote the innovative and creative work of women in science and business;
• Raise awareness among the targeted group on IP-related issues and industrial design;
• Promote the active use of the IP system, in particular the Hague system for the protection of industrial designs.

Michelle Berryman to speak at the TEDxCreativeCoast

Michelle Berryman will speak at the TEDxCreativeCoast, to be held June 18, 2010 from 9:00am – 6:00pm at Meddin Studios in Savannah, Georgia. The theme this year is Designing Creativity.

 

TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.

 

Michelle’s presentation, “Where there’s a will . . . !”, will discuss the myriad of ways people and nature use design thinking and creativity to overcome obstacles and achieve meaningful results.

IDEA 2010

On February 9, Fast Company magazine announced the jury selection for the 2010 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA®). The internationally diverse jury of 10 men and 8 women, chaired by John Barratt, president and CEO of Teague, will include Michelle Berryman of EchoViz. Sponsored by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), the IDEA® program is the premier international competition honoring design excellence in products, ecodesign, interaction design, packaging, strategy, research and concepts. Michelle will be judging entries in the categories for environments and interactive product experiences. Judging will take place in April at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan, with winners announced in the July/August issue of Fast Company magazine. Winners will be honored at this year’s IDSA international conference, held from August 5 to 7 in Portland, Oregon.

Australian International Design Awards Yearbook

CES Panelist in Las Vegas

Early in 2008, Michelle Berryman will be a panelist at the CES show in Las Vegas. The panel will discuss “ISO – The Next Big Thing: Avoiding the Pitfalls in Creating Best-Selling Products.”

The focus of the address will be how to avoid the roadblocks in the quest for the next blockbuster product. Also discussed will be the challenges off-shore manufacturing centers present, how non-CE companies use virtual reality to work toward a greener future and what helps keep the budget from derailing innovation.

Michelle Berryman participated in an “East-West Connection” panel discussion at the IDSA/Icsid Connecting ’07 World Design Congress in San Francisco.

The panel discussed the service and communication models necessary in face of globalization, and how design firms provide values to help their global clients in creating differentiation.

The forum encompassed new design approaches and local anecdotes in search of the best-practice design solutions. In addition, the future trend of global cooperation network was explored.
